Finance and accounting: one ledger from the trade to the board pack
Every trade, fee, payment and accrual posts to one double-entry ledger. Your finance team closes the period and reports from the same books.
In short
ZagTrader includes a full double-entry general ledger. Every trade, fee, deposit, withdrawal and accrual posts to it automatically, in its own currency at the rate of the day. From the same books, finance runs the statements, consolidates offices, reports capital adequacy and closes periods that stay closed.

What a CFO gets
The questions a board, a regulator and an auditor ask, answered from one set of books.
Every movement in one ledger
Trades, fees, cash and accruals post automatically to a double-entry ledger. Each journal keeps its currency and the rate at posting, so reprints always match.
See the detailsCorrections by reversal, never deletion
Every voucher is previewed before it posts and must balance. A wrong voucher is reversed by a counter-voucher, and both stay on the record.
See the detailsP&L on the basis you need
One income statement shown as booked, on an EBITDA basis or on a cash basis with a working-capital bridge. Compare to last year and drill into the journals.
See the detailsGroup consolidation
Sales between your own offices are eliminated, with a bridge showing each office. Group net income stays correct and the balance sheet stays balanced.
See the detailsCapital adequacy templates
Map your chart of accounts to each regulator's line items. Templates cover several jurisdictions, and a new line is a mapping change, not a project.
See the detailsA close that stays closed
Close daily or monthly, by hand or automatically. Nothing can be posted or back-dated behind a closed date, from any screen, job or source.
See the detailsHow it works
From the first posting to the board pack.
- 1
Every event posts itself
Trades, fees, deposits, withdrawals, interest and corporate actions post double-entry vouchers with no re-keying.
- 2
Client money is held, not guessed
Buying power falls the moment an order is placed. Only settled cash can be withdrawn.
- 3
Reconcile with the outside world
Bank statements, custodian holdings and custodian cash are matched daily. Unmatched items become a worklist.
- 4
Close the period
Interest, fee and custody accruals are brought up to date, the closing entry posts and the period locks.
- 5
Report from the same books
Statements, consolidation, capital adequacy, aging and budgets all read the ledger the business posted to.
Everything inside Finance & Accounting
The full capability set, in plain language.
| Capability | What you get |
|---|---|
| General ledger | A chart of accounts tree with categories and classifications, sub-ledgers by client or instrument, multiple offices and multiple currencies at stored rates. |
| Vouchers and approvals | Receipts, payments and general journals with bulk import, preview before posting, maker-checker approval and no self-approval. |
| Client balances | Cash balance, available to trade, available to withdraw from settled cash only, and a consolidated figure across currencies. |
| Reservations and holds | Cash held for pending orders, fees, margin and withdrawals in flight. Deposits and payments can be blocked separately, or an account frozen. |
| Money in and out | Deposits by virtual IBAN, receipt voucher, payment gateway or bank integration. Withdrawals with approval and screening. Transfers between accounts and clients. |
| Interest | Daily accrual on credit and debit balances by currency, client and custodian, on a 360 or 365 day count. Monthly posting and client interest statements. |
| Reconciliation | Banks, virtual IBANs, custodian holdings and cash, settlement, external brokers and cheques. Hiding an unmatched item needs a second approval. |
| Financial statements | Trial balance, balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, general ledger report and account balances, on screen, in PDF and in Excel. |
| Income statement bases | As booked, EBITDA or cash basis with a working-capital bridge. Common-size percentages, compare to last year and drill-down to journals. |
| Consolidation | Inter-company sales eliminated per office, billed amounts added back to expense, and the matching reduction on the consolidated balance sheet. |
| Regulatory capital | Capital adequacy reports mapped from your own chart of accounts, with jurisdiction templates, drill-down and Excel and PDF exports. |
| Aging and profitability | Customer, receivables, payables and credit aging, plus a ranking of clients by revenue earned against the equity they hold. |
| Budget vs actual | Budgets by cost centre, with monthly and quarterly drill-down and traffic-light variance. |
| Period close | Daily or monthly close, run by hand or automatically, enforced in the database for every office. Reopening a day needs its own permission. |
| Integrity controls | An alert for executed trades with no journal and a one-click repair queue, plus a nightly consistency report across seven checks. |
| Contract billing | Customer contracts with line items billed monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually or once, posted through the same ledger, with sales reporting. |
Frequently asked questions
Is the general ledger built in?
Yes. Trading, cash, custody, fees and corporate actions all post to one double-entry ledger, and every financial statement is produced from it.
How are mistakes corrected?
By reversal. A counter-voucher swaps each debit and credit and references the original. Both stay on the record and the reversal is logged in the audit trail.
Can we report profit on an EBITDA or cash basis?
Yes. The same income statement runs as booked, on an EBITDA basis or on a cash basis with a working-capital bridge. Each printout states its own basis.
How does consolidation treat billing between our own offices?
Inter-company sales are eliminated with a per-office bridge, and the billed amount is credited back to expense. Group net income is unchanged and the balance sheet stays balanced.
Can anyone post into a closed period?
No. After a close, nothing can be posted or back-dated behind it, whether from a screen, a background job or the database. Reopening a day needs a specific permission.
How is client money kept apart from what clients can trade?
Each client has a cash balance, an available-to-trade figure and a stricter available-to-withdraw figure. Pending orders hold cash at once, and only settled cash can leave.
