Ticker lookup

Type a ticker such as AAPL US Equity or EMAAR DB Equity for an exact match, or a bare ticker to search.

Free tool, no sign-up

Filters (optional)
Try:

A ticker in the exchange ticker format (ticker, exchange code and market sector, for example ARAMCO AB Equity) is matched exactly. A bare ticker is matched on every exchange that lists it; when there is no exact match, the tool searches names and tickers instead.

How to use the ticker lookup

  1. 1

    Type the ticker

With its exchange code and market sector, such as VOD LN Equity, or on its own, such as AAPL.

  2. 2

    Narrow it down

Add an exchange code in the filters, such as AB for the Saudi Exchange or DB for DFM.

  3. 3

    Read the listing

See the name, exchange, security type and FIGIs, and copy what you need.

What the results show

Name and ticker
The instrument name and its ticker on that venue.
Exchange
The exchange code of the venue. For GCC and other markets with a reference page, it links to the venue's Market Identifier Code (MIC).
Sector and type
The market sector (Equity, Corp, Govt, Index and so on) and the type of instrument, such as Common Stock.
FIGI
The identifier of the instrument on that one venue.
Composite FIGI
Groups the venue listings of the instrument within one country.
Share class FIGI
Groups the instrument across countries.

How to write a ticker

  • Ticker, exchange code and market sector, separated by spaces: AAPL US Equity, VOD LN Equity, NBK KK Equity. This form is matched exactly.
  • A bare ticker such as AAPL is matched on every exchange that lists it. Add an exchange code in the filters to get one listing.
  • Market sectors are Comdty, Corp, Curncy, Equity, Govt, Index, M-Mkt, Mtge, Muni and Pfd.
  • GCC exchange codes include AB (Saudi Exchange), DB (Dubai Financial Market), DH (Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange), DU (Nasdaq Dubai), KK (Boursa Kuwait), QD (Qatar Stock Exchange), BI (Bahrain Bourse) and OM (Muscat Stock Exchange).

The ZagTrader platform looks up new instruments and adds them for you

ZagTrader keeps a single instrument master for every market you trade. Records are matched on standard identifiers, so the same security is recognised whether your team searches by ISIN, SEDOL, CUSIP, FIGI or the local exchange code.

Switch on automatic lookup, and when anyone searches for an instrument the platform does not yet hold, it looks it up by its identifier and adds it to the right market, ready to use. Operators can request a specific instrument by identifier from the instrument screen.

Frequently asked questions

How do I look up a stock by ticker?

Type the ticker with its exchange code and market sector, for example AAPL US Equity, for an exact match. A bare ticker is matched on every exchange; if nothing matches, the name and ticker search runs instead.

Does it accept Bloomberg-style tickers?

Yes. The exchange ticker format, ticker then exchange code then market sector, such as EMAAR DB Equity, is the format many market data terminals use, and it is matched exactly.

Why does the same ticker show several companies?

Tickers are unique only within one exchange. Add the exchange code, in the box or in the filters, to get the listing you want.

What is the difference between a ticker and a MIC?

A ticker identifies an instrument on an exchange. A Market Identifier Code (MIC, ISO 10383) identifies the exchange itself, for example XSAU for the Saudi Exchange or XDFM for the Dubai Financial Market.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up. The number of lookups per minute is limited so the tool stays fast for everyone; if you go over, the page asks you to wait a minute.

What happens to what I type?

Our code does not store your query. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard request logs for a short time. The lookup sends only what you type and the filters you set, through our server, to a security reference service. Answers are kept for a day, with nothing that links them to you, so the same lookup is quick the next time anyone asks.

Results come from a security reference service at the time of the lookup and are not checked by ZagTrader. FIGI identifiers are in the public domain. Check important data against the issuer or your data provider before you rely on it. CUSIP is a registered trademark of the American Bankers Association; ZagTrader is not affiliated with it.
