ISIN lookup
Paste an ISIN to see the security, every listing with its ticker and exchange, and its FIGIs.
Free tool, no sign-up
The ISIN is checked first: length, country prefix and check digit. A valid ISIN is then looked up, and every listing of the security is shown with its ticker, exchange code, market sector, security type and FIGIs.
How to use the isin lookup
- 1
Paste the ISIN
Twelve characters, for example US0378331005. Spaces and dashes are removed for you.
- 2
Look it up
The check digit is verified first, then the security and its listings are found.
- 3
Pick the listing
Compare the exchange codes to find the venue you trade, and copy its ticker or FIGI.
What the results show
- Name and ticker
- The instrument name and its ticker on that venue.
- Exchange
- The exchange code of the venue. For GCC and other markets with a reference page, it links to the venue's Market Identifier Code (MIC).
- Sector and type
- The market sector (Equity, Corp, Govt, Index and so on) and the type of instrument, such as Common Stock.
- FIGI
- The identifier of the instrument on that one venue.
- Composite FIGI
- Groups the venue listings of the instrument within one country.
- Share class FIGI
- Groups the instrument across countries.
What an ISIN lookup tells you
An ISIN (ISO 6166) names a security, not a listing. A share listed on several exchanges keeps one ISIN, so the lookup returns one row per venue. The first two letters are the country of the issuer, the next nine are the national number (for US and Canadian securities, the CUSIP) and the last character is a check digit.
In settlement messages the ISIN identifies the security being delivered or received, so a mistyped ISIN is a common reason for a failed instruction.
The ZagTrader platform looks up new instruments and adds them for you
ZagTrader keeps a single instrument master for every market you trade. Records are matched on standard identifiers, so the same security is recognised whether your team searches by ISIN, SEDOL, CUSIP, FIGI or the local exchange code.
Switch on automatic lookup, and when anyone searches for an instrument the platform does not yet hold, it looks it up by its identifier and adds it to the right market, ready to use. Operators can request a specific instrument by identifier from the instrument screen.
Frequently asked questions
How do I look up an ISIN?
Paste it in the box above and choose Look up. The tool checks the check digit, then shows the security name, its tickers and exchanges, the security type and the FIGIs.
Why does a valid ISIN return no result?
Not every security is covered, in particular unlisted shares and some bonds and funds. A valid check digit proves only that the ISIN is well formed.
Why do I get several rows for one identifier?
An ISIN, CUSIP or SEDOL names a security, and the same security can trade on many venues. Each venue listing is its own row, with its own ticker, exchange code and FIGI. Compare the exchange codes to find the listing you trade.
Can I find the ISIN from a ticker?
The results show tickers and FIGIs, not ISINs. Use the ticker lookup to find the instrument, then the issuer or the national numbering agency for its ISIN.
Ticker lookupIs it free?
Yes, with no sign-up. The number of lookups per minute is limited so the tool stays fast for everyone; if you go over, the page asks you to wait a minute.
What happens to what I type?
Our code does not store your query. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard request logs for a short time. The lookup sends only what you type and the filters you set, through our server, to a security reference service. Answers are kept for a day, with nothing that links them to you, so the same lookup is quick the next time anyone asks.
